What is a Route Scheme?
A route scheme defines a set of rules that apply to each route. For example, it specifies which vehicle and driver combination will use the route. You can also configure the route’s collection mode depending on your needs — whether you’re collecting containers or replacing them.
You only need to configure the route scheme once, and then you can create multiple routes from it depending on your operational requirements. This setup is highly customizable to fit your workflow.
Plan Ahead: Automate Your Route Planning
You must configure Pickup Settings and Collection Calendar Days before using this feature. Learn more here.
The Plan Ahead feature helps reduce manual work by allowing you to automatically plan routes several days in advance. Whether you want to plan 7 days or two weeks ahead (or anything else you can imagine), you can generate routes automatically with just a few clicks.
After generating these routes, you can modify them individually as needed without any restrictions.
How to Manually Generate a Route
If you need to manually generate a route without using the Plan Ahead feature, here is one way of doing so:
Go to Route Schemes under Operation.
Click the three dots next to the scheme you want to use and select Optimize.
Choose the date for which you want to create the route and click Submit.
The system will generate the route, which may take a few seconds. Once complete, you’ll find the new route under the Routes view.
Automatic Stop Assignment and Editing
The newly created route will automatically be filled with all relevant stops, based on parameters such as waste fraction and vehicle type. This stop assignment depends heavily on your configuration.
You can edit the route by removing stops if, for example, a certain stop does not require collection on the selected date. You can also reorder stops manually to override the route optimization if needed.
Viewing and Optimizing Routes
Click View on the route to see its details. You will see the automatically generated stops in the order determined by our advanced routing engine, which ensures the route is optimized for efficient driving.
You can also open the route on a map to get a detailed visual of the full route and understand how it will be driven.
This should now provide a basic understanding of how routes and route schemes work and interact with each other!
