Keeping the Personal Identification Code (PIC) secure

Learn how the Contact PIC permission works, who can grant it, and what you see with and without access.

A contact's Personal Identification Code (PIC) — shown as the CPR number — is confidential personal data. WasteHero keeps it safe with a dedicated permission, so only the people who need it can see or change it. This guide explains how the permission works and what you'll see with and without it.

Turning on access

Access to the PIC is managed in Settings, so only a Master User or someone with permission to work with Settings can grant it to a role.

To turn it on:

  1. Go to Settings → User Management.

  2. Open the Roles tab and select the role you want to update.

  3. Under Customer Management, find the Contact PIC row.

  4. Tick Can View to let the role see the PIC, and Can Edit to let it make changes.

  5. Click Save changes.

That's it — everyone assigned to that role now has the access you selected.

What you'll see with access

To protect the data, the PIC is always masked when a contact opens. When you have Can View access, simply double-click the masked value to reveal the full number.

You can do this anywhere a contact is shown, including:

  • Property Details → Contacts

  • Ticket Details → Contact

Tip: The number stays masked until you double-click it, so it's never on screen by accident.

What you'll see without access

If your role doesn't have Can View, the PIC stays hidden everywhere and can't be revealed.

On the Contact Details page the field stays masked, and hovering over it explains why: "You don't have permission for this field."

In every other place the contact appears — such as Property Details → Contacts and Ticket Details → Contact — no PIC data is shown at all. Here's an example from Ticket Details:

Need someone to see the PIC? Ask a Master User or your Settings administrator to enable Contact PIC for their role.
