Introduction

The ticket custom field is an essential feature that allows you to tailor each ticket to your specific needs. This feature ensures that different ticket types contain the precise information required to complete tasks successfully.

We support the following field types:

Type

Description

Select

Set up multiple options for ticket reporters to select, but they can only select one option.

Multi-select

Set up multiple options for ticket reporters to select more than options.

Number input

Set up a number-only field for ticket reporters to input numbers.

Text

Set up a text-only field for ticket reporters to input text.

Remember, you can determine if the field should be required or optional. You can always edit this even after creation. However,

Once the custom field is created, you cannot change the field type again. You will need to create a new one.


Add a new ticket custom field

You need to create a custom field first before you can attach the field to multiple ticket types.

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Tickets β†’ Custom fields

  2. Click on the '+' button on the list to the left

  3. Fill in all the required fields, and most importantly, set up the field type to determine if the field should be optional or required.

  4. Save the changes.


Attach custom fields to ticket type

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Tickets β†’ Ticket types

  2. Click on the ticket you would like to add the custom field

  3. Go to the Custom Fields section and select the field you have created. If you need to add a new field, please take a look at how to add a custom field here.

  4. Preview and save the changes.


Where can you see the custom field?

The custom field will be visible in all the ticket detail views based on the corresponding tickets. To be more specific, here are the places you can find them:


Set up permission

Ticket custom field supports configuration on Roles level, which give you control over the feature accessibility to you user based on different roles and responsibilities. Read more about roles and permission setting here.
